First
of all let me tell you my cooking story:
I
learned how to cook being a young 16 years old boy and
living by myself in a small apartment in Kiev, Ukraine. My
friend let me stay at his place for free.
I
was a musician and played weddings and other celebrations. I
was earning practically no money, but freedom of living on
my own was worth a lot more to me than living with my parents
and going to school.
I
was constantly hungry, had no money and had no idea how to
cook. I learned the basics of cooking over the phone.
My friend's wife gave me very simple instructions and I
started my journey.
I
remember that it took me almost a whole day to prepare a
meal. I had to go to
the market, do preparations, cooking and then had to
spent a great deal of time
washing dishes.
In
the evening a bunch of my friends ate everything while
partying at my place and the next morning I had a mountain
of dirty dishes and an empty fridge. That was day after day
and so on...
I
stopped cooking right after my wedding. I cooked a dinner
for my wife and her parents and told them that was my last
time cooking.
Being
31 years old and living in Minnesota I decided to quit
smoking. Which I did successfully - cold turkey after
smoking almost 17 years, 2 packs a day.
Then
I realized that I can taste and smell food like never
before. My wife and mother-in- law's cooking as well as most
restaurant meals tasted bland.
Food
Network and cooking shows from different channels has become
my favorite entertainment. I have started cooking again,
using great chefs recipes, using different techniques and
approaches.
I
like to experiment on my own. I can close my eyes and I can
tell what needs to be done to improve a taste. I have my
favorite ingenious and techniques.
I'm
very serious about my cooking. Everybody who tried my
cooking noticed taste and presentation.
Ok
that's enough of bragging. Now I want to share with you some
of my favorite recipes.
